Vu Khac Trai concentrates his practice on all aspects of Intellectual Property laws patent law and patent practice including preparation of patent applications, patent drafting, patent counseling, patentability search, re-examination, preparing opinion on validity, non-infringment and freedom-to-operate and patent due diligence. His practice has an emphasis on mechanical devices, industrial machinery, electrical and automotive technologies, engines and vehicle devices. He has extensive expertise in all phases of patent litigation and settlement of patent infringement cases including drafting, filing and prosecuting, writing opinions and appeals in NOIP and courtroom, especially he has depth experiences in examining and reviewing the appeals on patent infringement and litigation. In addition, Mr. Trai holds significant experiences in counseling clients on trademark litigation and infringement.

Besides preforming the transaction with clients, Mr. Trai also devotes a significant part of his expertise to training the firm’s new patent associates in the field of patent law and practice.

Prior to enjoing ACTIP Patent Limited as a leading technical counselor, Vu Khac Trai was in turn the first Director of Legislation Department and Patent Information Center of the National Office of Intellectual Property (NOIP) during period of 1970 to 2001. Mr. Trai has also ever been a high-grade examiner of Broad of Appeal in period of 2001 to 2006 before he has taken over a title as a high-grade expert and examiner of Vietnam Intellectual Property Research Institute (VIPRI) for period of 2007 to 2012. During his tenure at the NOIP and VIPRI, he had conducted and examined thousands of patent searches for prior arts and re-examination as well as reviewed patents and trademark litigation cases under the appeal procedure.

As one of only two intellectual property assessors of VIPRI up to date, Mr. Trai has performed the re-examination for hundereds patent and trademark litigations and infringements.

A first leading expert in the Intellectual Property field of Vietnam since its inception, he was amongst of very few people drafting and designing the first writing legal on the Intellectual Property Matters of Vietnam.

A veteran lecturer, Mr. Trai has regularly providing many training programs on intellectual property law and practices in many Universities in Vietnam, especially the training and examining course on intellectual property rights for candidates who seek a practice license as a registered patent and trademark attorney.
